This month the students have been learning about the Virtue of the Month: Tahara, or cleanliness. They have also been discussing the Islamic month of Rajab and how every good deed performed is multiplied many times.
October 2: Averroes Academy and the nearby Countryside Montessori School held a tree-planting ceremony together. The children got to know one another and sang songs together in remembrance of the September 11 attacks on New York and Washington.
Curriculum Night was a big success. Parents and teachers got to meet to view the classrooms, discuss the curriculum and share their expectations. Dr. Imam, the school's Superintendent gave a speech on the commonalities between the principles of education and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Picture Day!
Mid term reports were mailed home.
The school Library is growing but more donations are requested. Parents are welcome to volunteer to help as librarians.
The Executive Committee of Averroes Academy held an Open Meeting with parents to answer their questions and share future development plans.
October 31: Popcorn Day! The students had a non-uniform day and sang songs and did activities involving popcorn.
October 31: Nifs-e-Shabaan, the 15th of the Islamic month of Shabaan, when God gives special attention to the supplications made on that evening. Students were asked to write out a list of things for which they were thankful to God and a list of things they would ask of Him and then to discuss the lists with their parents.
