Curriculum Night had a wonderful turnout. The presence of so many interested parents coupled with the presentations by this year’s dedicated teaching staff bode well for a great school year, Inshaallah.

Student Council held their elections this month. Students were able to experience campaigning, making speeches and casting their votes. With grace and good sportsmanship, the elections were a great experience for all.

Hooray for the Parent-Teacher Council, who organized a coat drive and, through the students, collected dozens of coats for Chicago’s needy.

Students anxiously anticipated the return of Wednesday hot lunches. Organized in cooperation with parent volunteers, the school served pizza, carrots, cookies and juice to hungry students. Other kid-friendly favorites are planned for the rest of the year.

Averroes Academy welcomed its very own Scientist-in-Residence. Dr. DiPinto, an organic chemist with extensive experience, will be joining each grade, every other week, to offer students an opportunity to participate in experiments and activities that will deepen their understanding of the scientific principles they will learn in class.
