The Parent-Teacher Council (PTC) led the school to a fantastic opening of its seventh year. They organized a well-attended and much enjoyed picnic and launched their first issue of the PTC BUZZ, the PTC newsletter which was full of back-to-school advice, reminders and news.

Curriculum Night was held and was appreciated by all. Each teacher was able to make a presentation to their parents explaining the curriculum they plan to follow and their rules for the classroom.

Smile! Students took their school photos this month. Both individual and class photos were taken.

In response to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Averroes Academy students participated in a special collection. Each family put together at least one shoeboxes full of non-perishable foods and useful supplies to send to the ravaged areas through the Glenview Police Department. Thirty-nine boxes were collected along with messages of hope and encouragement.

Averroes Academy once again displayed student artwork and Islamic information in an attractive display in the children’s department of the Northbrook Public Library throughout the month of September.

The Scrip Advantage Program is off and running. Parents were given the opportunity to purchase gift cards and certificates for the full dollar value and earn a donation back to the school. We hope this program will be a successful fundraiser for the school.
