Alhamdulillah, Shaykh Hamza Yusuf delivered the keynote address at the 8th Annual Dinner of Averroes Academy. This annual event that has in the past hosted other contemporary scholars such as Abdal-Hakim Murad, Akbar Ahmed, Syed Hossein Nasr and other intellectuals is an evening of learning for the Chicago community and a source of much needed funds to help the school build a new home.

Averroes Academy purchased a small parcel of land in the Village of Northbrook in 2005 to build a school. Building the school required additional land per village regulations. A neighboring parcel of land is additionally being considered for purchase. Through this event the school aims to raise the required funds, Inshallah, to purchase this additional parcel so that construction can begin with the village permit.

Shaykh Hamza has always recognized the importance of funding the education of our children as the surest return on investment and spoke on the topic of Ibn Rushd (Averroes) and Contemporary Education.
